The RKCC Young Professionals (Young Professionals) would like to invite interested young people to our second speaking event of 2018. Young Professionals is a section of the RKCC Chamber of Commerce that is open to those aged between 18 and 35 who have an interest in business and professional development.

Stephen Lennon Company Director and President (WA Division) United Nations Association of Australia

Steve is a qualified scientist and engineer, with a primary degree in Chemistry and a Masters and Doctorate degree in Materials engineering. He is an experienced company director, having held Board positions on state and private companies and not for profit organisations in South Africa, Switzerland, Australia and the USA. He has had rich executive career of more than 30 years in Eskom, which is South Africa’s State Owned power company.

He is recognised as an international expert in energy and technological innovation, with specialist knowledge in sustainability, climate change, energy planning, policy and strategy and both non-renewable and renewable energy sources and networks. Steve has received several lifetime achievement awards and was a contributor to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change which won the Nobel Peace prize together with Al Gore in 2007.

Steve has a strong local and global network through advisory roles and various executive and non-executive leadership roles. For several years, he was Chairman of the National Advisory Council on Innovation as well as Chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce’s Energy and Environment Commission. In the latter role, he engaged extensively with the United Nations as the voice of International Business. He was a member of the Coal industry Advisory Board of the International Energy Agency for more than 10 years.

He is currently Managing Director of Shanduvan Pty Ltd, a specialist energy, sustainability and strategy advisory service, based in Perth, providing high level advisory services in Southern Africa, Australia and the USA. He is also Chief Executive of SolaJoule Pty Ltd, an efficient lighting and point of use solar technology company, a director of Fusion Energy and a Board member of South Africa’s Technology Innovation Agency.

Why should you be involved? – As a young employee, business owner, manager or university student you have the opportunity to network with your peers, exchanging ideas and views with other young entrepreneurs, undergraduates and managers from both small and larger organisations and in doing so assist you in developing your organisation and your personal careers.(Please bring your business cards for networking purposes and to enter the door prize)
